The success of the football team and 2020-21 struggles of the Wildcat basketball squad have combined to lessen the normal preseason hype for John Calipari’s team, but the start of basketball season will always represent a challenge to the attention directed at the football team. An 11-1 Wildcat team would be a heavy favorite for a New Year’s Six bowl berth, but none of the remaining games is likely to generate much buzz outside of the Bluegrass State leading up to bowl season. Regardless of how well Kentucky performs in the second half, none of its remaining games will attract the attention the last three games did.
